Self-Care Day Checklist: Your Guide to a Day of Complete Self-Love

Hi, welcome to my new blog my loves, I’m Bee, a Pharmacist, Psychological Coach, Writer and Designer. Today I will write to you about how you can prepare your Self-Care day checklist, at the same time you will be able to understand the importance of taking care of your mental, physical and emotional balance with step by step proper care and appropriate routine altogether. I welcome you all again into my new article, so let’s get started.

In today’s day to day life of ours, we are so much busy all day long, right? We have so much to accomplish, so much to do so much to take care of, or on the other side we have some depressive moments or days when we feel so low on energy that we don’t do anything at all. In both of these situations in life , if we think about a day or a routine for self care, and also we need to prepare a self care day checklist- it might sound so much overwhelming at first. And this overwhelming state is not unusual either. 

However, taking care of our mental health, physical fitness and emotional balance is very much necessary in order to maintain a healthy feeling of recharged ourselves to overcome the obstacles and challenges of our life which comes so often in all of our life. 

I have designed the self care day checklist in a way so that any of you – whether you are experienced doing this before or a completely new beginner of self improvement journey, can accomplish with ease and feel so easy to achieve the fruits of your work. I’ll try to make you understand the importance or prioritize your core needs in smooth way so that you can follow with ease too.  

The importance of Self- Care: Why does Self- Care matter?

Self-care is a basic need for everyone, especially for women. Although my article is for Everyone but Women have to take care of many responsibilities both in home and outside house. So, taking time for yourself is never selfishness, it is called self respect (Which I always say in my blog on other articles)  and strategic preparation for any future disastrous event . 

Self- care day or selfcare day checklist will protect you from being mentally burnout – which is a pretty common phenomenon for every woman nowadays. Most of the women put other people’s needs more priority than their own needs, and kept ignoring their energy reserve which resulted in some very bad events, like mental burnout , depression, chronic stress, fatigue, physical sickness and so on. Which makes impacts social and interpersonal relationships so negatively. 

But if you dedicate a day each week or each 15 days apart, for yourself to take care of you then you will be able to make distance from these negative consequences and will be more capable and equipped to handle or grapple stress and any more difficulties in your life may throw at your way. Also you will be more able to take care of your loved ones and to be there for them at their needs. Just think for a moment, if you are not well physically mentally and emotionally, then how can your loved one can get such support from you and stay happy? 

Regular Self care also improves our quality of sleep, improves mitochondrial health ( which means improve our healthy metabolic functions) , it also keeps you in a state of high energy. It reduces anxiety and depression. It also helps to retain your self esteem and boost healthy self confidence. 

Self-Care Day Checklist

Now I’m going directly to the checklist which I crafted with precision and based on scientific facts.

1. Prepare your Surrounding Environment:

What I mean by that is – I want you to make your surrounding and your living space kinda cozy and warm. Because your environment is the first step which directly impacts to your mindset. And also achieving a Self care day success, depends on this. For this purpose clean your spaces, and remove unnecessary beings from your room and organize everything in your surroundings first. Through unnecessary items into the trash cans and remove them altogether.
Buy some fragranced candles and some colorful lights (choose your favorite fragrance and color for this purpose). Then light up your room with those lights and light up the candles in your room. From The aroma and fragrance and ambience of your room you will already start to feel too much stress free vibes within yourself. And it’s just the beginning my dear loves!! From your wardrobe, wear some cozy comfy dress and take some soft blanket and pillows to make the environment more welcoming.  

2. Now it is time for Gratitude practice:

To start a day with gratitude sets your mind in clear intention and Gratitude helps us to fill our mind with in kind of positive atmosphere and reduce the negative vibration that can be disturbing inside our head and prohibiting us from doing and from moving forward. At this moment of yourself checklist I would suggest you know to take a moment of a day at this moment after you have done all the preparation of your room and surroundings and everything’s with fragrance and so on and now take a moment and reflect on the positive side that happened in your life, Try to remember the things for  for which you are very grateful and also the people surrounding yourself who are very much helpful and a very much positive which who lives you up in your life and remember About this and be grateful for what you have and ignore what you don’t have. The next step is think about how you feel or how you can feel by end of a day and how you want to feel at the end of the day and write it down As if if this are your intention and let this intention guides due to versus successful at positive day and at the end of the day this wishful intention that you have set up at very beginning of the day will end up a successful opposite day that will result in positive more joy and relaxed also recharged.

3. Start Your Day With a Little Body Movement:

The morning after waking up from the bed, what happens is that when we wake up our psyche of mind wakes up but our body  does not wake up at all. So, at this moment After waking up from the bed I would suggest to move your muscles and body slowly and gently. It will help our body to wake up along with our mind and then the mind and body will be connected in such a way that will be feeling more positive and recharged to start your day. So today it is all about relaxing and in touch with yourself try some exercise that is your so that you feel more energized at the same time not feeling exhausted by doing this Highway exercise. Light exercise which moves the body but does not increase the heart rate is very much effective to relax the body and the balance of stress hormones in the body.

Try to create some simple stretching exercise routine in your day that will target your neck muscles, shoulder Spine and also the leg muscles this at the muscles that are involved in a lot of stress relieving activities. Add Breathing exercise also in this stretching morning routine because the proper breathing exercise has also a positive activity or positive impact in our healthy body. It reduces the stress that declutters the mind and calms us down.

So if afterwards the weather is very good and you find this very good morning and you are able to go outside our just start to walk in outside and try to walk in barefoot so that you can feel the ground under your feet and listen to the sounds around you and breath happily and more deeply because nature has a calming effect on our mind and also Walking in the morning in the nature gives us about exercise and mental clarity. Your body will feel a high level of oxygen in your blood and you will feel more energized and your oxidative stress in your body will be reduced at the same time so working in the morning outside in the park of bare food in the grass is a very very good thing to do to add on. Try to make this moment very much enjoyable to you so that you don’t force yourself as if it is an obligatory task for you no just a very easily and enjoyable and just enjoy the moment and listen to your body at the same time that what your body is telling you to do right now so if you got your loves you to do more than two more and if you doesn’t then take a step back and stop for the day. 

4. Take a balanced healthy breakfast:

Take a healthy and balanced breakfast at the start of your day because a self care day will not work if you do not have a proper nutrition in your body I healthy and heavy and hurt you breakfast is the most important thing for providence support yourself care day journey so take a moment and enjoy The process.  and what I mean is that the process starts from the preparation of your food like cooking it and adding the nutrition and balance within it and then eating the food itself and I mean enjoy all it.  Do not skip any kind of important nutrition that is required in the body you have to add cards in it you have to add protein in 8 years to add some fairy need so that it all gets balance also focus on your macronutrients and also try not to forget to take your daily salt intake as very important to take healthy dose of salt that is required for the day. I will write about the importance of having salt and macronutrients in the body in my  future article and that will be your full article for it but for today’s article I am just stopping here. Keep in mind to add greens, some berries, and fruits which are filled with antioxidants.

Some breakfast ideas to try:

– Bowl of smoothie: Blend some berries with few spinach, add milk into it, then add your other favorite fruits, You also can add almond, walnuts and finish it with maple syrup or honey.

– Oatmeal cooked in cow milk, goat milk or almond milk, pour some berries, raspberries and pistachios or almonds or walnuts along with maple syrup.

– Add poached egg or some slice of chicken breast for extra animal protein which is essential for our metabolism and mitochondrial health. 


And while you are enjoying your breakfast, do not rush while eating, take extra time to finish it, eat slowly by experiencing the flavours, aroma and fulfillment of the food. Dont neglect the hydration idea, eat plenty of water, fruit juice, you can use pineapple or watermelon juice. Have some regular or herbal tea alongside. You will be feeling very balanced and happy and energised throughout the day. Also you can fortify this breakfast time with practicing some gratitude while you eat.

And continue the lunch and dinner with the same technique and eat your favorite meal for lunch and dinner. 

5. It’s time for refocus your skincare routine:

Your regular skincare routine needs to get more attention here, since when was the last time you dedicatedly cared your feet? Why feet first, well my loves, from feet and the toe skin we excrete toxins from the body. A proper wash or some hot water soaked foot bath for 10 minutes will detox your liver and give you a healthy glowing skin.

Double clean your face and body skin with oil, moisturizer, use olive oil or rosemary oil to give extra stress relieving touch. Use warm water. You can use also detoxing face mask and feet pad for detoxification. Take Cold shower followed by immediate Hot shower and then Cold shower again. Your body which accumulated a huge amount of toxins and chemicals in your blood and skins will excrete out through this method. Finish this care with applying extra virgin olive oil into the body. I’m a fan of using natural ingredients rather than chemical ones as the chemical product contains heavy metal and some stuff which i don’t like personally, but if you want you can go for it as your choice, I’m just saying my preference and I suggest to my readers which I do for myself. 

6. Now it’s time for engaging in creative and heart filling activities:

A self care day is empty and I think is not even a self care day  if you have not engaged in some creative and soul fulfilling activities. Turn on your creative side and connect with the playfulness of yourself and detach from the stress and anxiety which bothers you. Should I give you some idea for creative activities? Well I will definitely do for you –

– If you love playing piano and you haven’t played this week or long time, today is the day , yes because it is your self care day !! Play some guitar if you love also, you can play violin, or indulge in painting from your deep of fantasy and imagination into creative expression through your colors and canvas.

– Then another option is journaling, take your notebook  and start writing , write with all you want, for instance- why am i so happy today? What makes me happy? What are the things I have or I accomplished which makes me proud of myself, what are the recent obstacles you have overcome? Have you treated yourself enough for this? You have taken the steps towards self care journey- which is not a joke right? Why should you be feeling low and sad if you can do so many things without even help of anybody?
Write these words and see and feel them. I can feel the smile and content from you while I am writing this article. Live fully with love. You are loved. We all are loved. In so many ways and from so many places which we don’t even understand. Write those into your journal.

– Now you can go to the kitchen, cook anything even if you don’t know how to cook anything, make your salad, or bake some cookies, buy some pre-made cookies from the shop and throw them into the oven. Add some chocolate chips. Enjoy the moment, every moment of today’s activities. Keep the smile on your lips throughout the day. 

It is okay to be imperfect , it is okay if you don’t know any of these activities or haven’t done before , it is completely fine, you have tried today. I am proud of you . This is enough , more than enough. Let it be imperfect, let it be disorganized in an organized way. That’s fine. Your goal is to enjoy the procedure, do not take any pressure or burden on yourself. 

7. Disconnect yourself from the digital world for this day

Your self care day journey will be hampered due to too many notifications, chat inbox, email and so on. So turn off the internet and these notifications for all day. Just keep the emergency call open so that your closest and dearest one can find you via phone call, but no internet for this day. Because it is essential for your brain dopamine level to recharge and you will be connecting with your own self, your eyes will get rest. If you need entertainment, you can listen to your favorite music and dance by yourself.  You will be able to self reflect more gratefully and deeply with this disconnected day. I put my own phone on airplane mode simply when I exercise on my own selfcare day. It elevates the mood and energy so that you will feel the difference in your mood and energy level. You will be so positive without even trying this simple step. 

8. Finish the day with gratitude and well deserved rest: 

Reflect the best moment of this day , which of the activities you loved, which part of the day you laughed more and how this self care day boosted you throughout the day and how cheer up you will be for the next week or even months, and be grateful for the day, be proud of this day. And after having a fantastic dinner, go to sleep in your room and make it a dark and comfortable room for yourself beforehand. And sleep 2 hours earlier than you usually do. 

Final Thoughts: What an amazing self care day you have embraced for yourself

If you have followed my designed self care day checklist and steps, you are now feeling more refreshed, stress free, beautiful, more attractive and loved also emotionally , physically recharged with new energy. This shift of your mind and body will take you further in your day to day life and from this routine or self care day checklist you could take some habit as your new daily routine, like gratitude ,journaling practice and make a priority for your own rest and nutrition everyday.
